Blues Begone is currently used in NHS services over much of the South of England. It is an ideal companion to either face to face therapy or to low intensity therapeutic activity. Blues Begone is also extensively used in GP surgery setting. Indeed our extensive research has indicated that Blues Begone is a highly effective treatment option for depression, anxiety and workplace stress.  Blues Begone works on the principle that people can often help themselves out of depression and anxiety and our research in both open trials and in randomized controlled trials demonstrates this very strongly indeed.

We have placed under this section, examples of data from primary care patients who experienced depression and anxiety. They were simply sent by their GP to receive Blues Begone. In all cases the patient was assessed by a trained worker who collected demographic and questionnaire data, usually in a 30 minute interview. Generally users receive a 10 minute telephone call after about 4 weeks into the program and they return to complete the questionnaires again after they finish Blue Begone. This generally takes about 8 weeks. Of all people who start Blues Begone we are able to collect final questionnaire data from 60%. All users must be identifiably depressed as defined by the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) with a score of not less than 11.  We find that 60% of clinically depressed users will be cured after using Blues Begone. This means that they will have dropped to a score of less than 11 as measured by the BDI. Using similar criteria but this time measured by the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) we find that 50% of users will be cured of anxiety.

Blues Begone is easy for a client to use, they often find it both engaging and motivating. Successful services that use Blues Begone in the NHS have demonstrated that a solo full time employed mental health worker can case manage and facilitate the treatment of up to 1,800 NHS primary care patient with a single year.

This is truly a form of cognitive behaviour therapy for the 21st Century. Common mental health problems such as depression anxiety are endemic in primary care in the UK and abroad. Blues Begone offers the possibility, for the first time in the history of the psychiatry and psychology of treating vast number of depressed and anxious people at very low cost. Please view the PDF documents in this section and compare Blues Begone with the data from other treatments we have illustrated.
